San Francisco, CA – Seven Injured on Golden Gate Bridge

San Francisco, CA – Seven Injured by Exposure on Golden Gate Bridge

San Francisco, CA (September 14, 2020) – An incident following a vehicle collision on the Golden Gate Bridge left several people, including California Highway Patrol officers, injured.

At around 11:45 a.m., on September 13, the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of an incident on the Golden Gate Bridge. Reports show that a suspected-impaired driver crashed their vehicle into a moveable median barrier at the toll plaza for the Golden Gate Bridge.

Officers and firefighters arrived at the scene and located the driver unconscious. They removed the victim and were attempting to move the vehicle when two CHP officers and the tow truck driver became incapacitated due to an apparent fentanyl exposure. Two other officers responded to the scene with a Golden Gate Bridge Patrol officer. These three victims began to feel ill after administering Narcan to the first three victims.

All six victims, as well as the driver of the vehicle, were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries. The driver of the vehicle faces several charges.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with the victims injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.
