San Francisco, CA – Seven Injured by Exposure on Golden Gate Bridge

San Francisco, CA (July 29, 2020) – A major fire incident reported on Tuesday caused one firefighter serious injuries in the San Francisco area. Around 7:10 a.m., on July 28, neighbors in the area reported hearing a transformer explosion somewhere on 14th Street near the intersection with Shotwell Street. At that time, it is believed that a fire was burning in the area for about 40-minutes.

Crews arrived at the site of the fire as it spread rapidly through several adjoining buildings. For several hours, firefighters battled the blaze, ringing new alarms repeatedly. In total, five alarms were rang, prompting 160 firefighters to arrive on-site to battle the blaze with a total of sixty vehicles. By 11 a.m., firefighters were able to take control of the fire and announce that is was extinguished. While battling the blaze, one firefighter sustained blunt-force trauma injuries. The injured firefighter was rushed to an area hospital for treatment. A total of six buildings were destroyed in this fire, including a commissary kitchen that is used by several restaurants. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with the victim injured in this incident. We hope for their full recovery.
