Redding, CA – Two Killed in Plane Crash near Benton Airpark on Gold St
Redding, CA (August 28, 2020) – A plane accident early Thursday morning claimed the lives of two victims and left two others injured. Just after 6:45 a.m., on August 27, the Redding Police Department responded to the scene of a crash off Gold Street.
Reports provided by the Federal Aviation Administration show that a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza was traveling near the Benton Airpark, located off Gold Street while carrying four people on board. For unknown reasons, the plane crashed into a ravine.
The impact of the crash caused a fire, which spanned nearly half of an acre. Firefighters responded to the scene and fought the blaze to access the plane.
Inside the aircraft, officers with the Redding Police Department located the bodies of two deceased parties. Two others were located on the plane with serious injuries. The two injured parties were rushed to area hospitals for treatment.
At this time, the police and the FAA are investigating the cause of the crash.
