Jamestown, CA – Truck Accident on CA-108 Claims Man’s Life

Modesto, CA – Man Injured in Pedestrian Crash on W Orangeburg Ave

Jamestown, CA (August 1, 2020) – A collision reported on Friday morning claimed one man’s life in Tuolumne County. At around 10:40 a.m., on July 31, the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a collision on California State Highway 108 in the Jamestown area.

Preliminary investigations provided by CHP show that a 21-year-old man from Fresno was driving east on California State Highway 108 in a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV when his vehicle collided with a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia big rig, driven by 41-year-old Robert Ellis, just east of Tulloch Road.

The impact of the collision caused the driver of the SUV to lose control of their vehicle and crash into a second big rig. The impact of the second collision caused both the semi-truck and the SUV to catch on fire before the SUV was pushed off the roadway where it flipped over and landed on its roof. Several passersby attempted to extinguish the fire but were unsuccessful. The driver of the SUV was unable to escape and suffered fatal injuries in the crash. At this time, investigations surrounding the incident remain underway.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the victim who lost their life in this accident.
