Gardena, CA – One Killed in Car Crash on W Redondo Beach Blvd
Gardena, CA (August 30, 2020) – A motor vehicle accident reported in the Gardena area claimed the life of one woman and landed a driver in jail. Just before 11:50 a.m., on August 29, the Gardena Police Department responded to the site of a crash on West Redondo Beach Boulevard.
Reports provided by the police show that 19-year-old Isaiah Lono was driving a stolen Dodge pickup truck on West Redondo Beach Boulevard when he crashed into a Nissan Sentra at the intersection with South Vermont Avenue. Lono then exited the vehicle and ran away on foot.
The driver of the Nissan was rushed to Harbor UCLA Medical Center with critical injuries from the crash. The victim, who was identified as a female driver, succumbed to her injuries after arriving.
Lono was later apprehended by police. He is facing an array of charges for his actions including hit and run, driving under the influence, homicide, and vehicular manslaughter. At this time, the police are investigating the crash.
